From farm to formula in 10 hours
Every Kendamil recipe is crafted from our home in the British Lake District by our expert team of formulators. Our Head of R&D has been working in Kendal researching baby formula for over 43 years and closely monitors each recipe we produce and adjust over time. Every new recipe starts with the question, ‘what would we craft if we didn’t have to compromise?'.
Our factory in Kendal receives over 1 million litres of milk each month! All of our milk, whether it be cows’ milk or goats’ milk, comes from grass-fed animals on farms with a passion for animal welfare. We source our creamy, Organic whole cows’ milk each morning from local, British farms that deliver fresh liquid milk to our factory in Kendal. All milk that arrives onsite is tested for any form of contaminants and any milk that doesn’t meet our high standards is rejected. After this step, the milk is pasteurised with a mild heat step.
Our pasteurised whole milk is standardised before being uniquely enriched with vitamins and minerals in a wet blending stage, which also combines additional sources of fat content to our unique whole milk fat recipes. Achieving the right balance of macro nutrients is critical to baby formula production, as we strive to mimic the levels identified in breastmilk.
Our enriched milk is then sent through a series of gradual evaporation steps before entering our drying tower, which is a six-storey building within which our liquid formula is converted into powder, forming ‘snowflake’ particles. Each batch of product is rigorously quality tested before passing on to the next stage of the process where we dry blend additional minerals to ensure they’re properly dispersed in our formula.
Within hours, our milk has become formula, and it travels to our canning line where it is accurately measured and dispensed into Kendamil cans. Each can is then sealed and ‘crowned’ with our gold overcap.
Each batch of formula is tested by our Quality Control and Quality Assurance Departments, ensuring that every can of formula meets the high standards set by us and the families that rely on Kendamil for their little ones.

Growing up on a farm with his parents and grandparents, Ross has always been passionate about animal welfare and ingredients that are close to nature. Some of Ross’ earliest memories are churning butter with his Nana and going fishing with his Dad in little wellies aged 3. Kendamil is the culmination of a long career in food and nutrition, and his proudest achievement outside of his loving wife and two sons.

Being brothers always comes first for Will & Dylan. When Will was 10 and Dylan was just 4, they would play with Will’s Formula 1 cars together – today though, they spend most of their time talking about their #1 formula, Kendamil!

Born and raised in Kendal, Emma first discovered Kendamil as a midwife and then later with her own little boy. She is passionate about informed feeding choices and shares her expertise at baby shows and in our social content.

Kendal born and bred, Simon was brought up in countryside during a time that farming was thriving and almost every local farm had its own dairy herd. He's always had a passion for the countryside as well as the animals. Since leaving school Simon has worked in the dairy industry and has been at our Kendal HQ for over 30 years. Simon helped craft our Kendamil recipe when the brand was born, believing in the benefits of full fat whole milk. Simon now manages our factory and his care for our people, our product and most importantly our babies sums up the Kendamil approach!

Although mum of two Louisa now lives in the city, her childhood was very much spent on farms, from spending her weekends making dens on her Grandma’s old Yorkshire farm to living a rural lifestyle on her parent’s hobby farm in France. This is where her passion for cooking, baking and nutrition came from and her reasons for loving the heritage behind Kendamil.
