UK Kendamil Organic Formula Update

Due to higher-than-ever demand for Kendamil Organic in the UK, we’ve supplemented our supply with formula made by our trusted, world-class manufacturing partner in France, to ensure all families can enjoy Kendamil without any disruption to supply. This is a temporary measure until our factory expansion in the Lake District has been completed (watch this space!).

What you may notice on the label

You may notice small differences in how ingredients appear on the label, such as a change in order or how an ingredient is named. These minor updates do not change the nutritional quality of the formula.

Ingredient updates

While the source of calcium in the recipe has been updated, the formula continues to provide the correct levels of calcium to support your baby’s development and meet all UK infant formula regulations.

In the previous recipe, calcium was provided using a combination of calcium sources, including calcium lactate and calcium citrate. In the updated recipe, we have simplified this by using calcium citrate as the primary calcium source.

This is not a change to the formulation, it’s simply an update to how ingredients are presented.

Tocopherols (a form of vitamin E) are naturally derived extracts used as antioxidants in the oil blend, helping to maintain product quality and freshness. These have always been present as part of our oil blend.

We are now aligning all products to clearly show tocopherols in the ingredient list, in line with updated labelling practices.

The amount of lactose in Kendamil Organic has not changed from our previous recipe. Lactose has always been the main carbohydrate in our recipe.

It now appears as a separate ingredient because of a change to how some of our dairy ingredients are used during production, meaning some of the lactose is now listed separately on the ingredient list.

While the ingredient list looks different, the nutritional content remains the same and the recipe is fully compliant with UK regulations.

What you may notice at home

As with any change, however minor, you may notice some small differences in the product. The powder may appear slightly lighter in colour and finer in texture, and the prepared formula may have a milder aroma or slightly sweeter taste. These minor variations can be expected with any formula batch change and do not affect the quality or nutritional value of the formula. Most parents find it very similar to what they are used to.

When will this happen?

You can start finding the new batches in retail from the start of July.

Will my baby notice a difference?

Most babies will continue feeding as usual. However, every baby is unique and some may take a few feeds to settle if they notice small differences in taste or smell. If you’re ever concerned, you can reach out to our Care Team or speak with your healthcare professional for reassurance.

Baby formula transition tips
  • 1. Start by replacing just one feed per day with the new formula.
  • 2. Each day, increase by one additional feed using the new formula.
  • 3. Over the course of 5–7 days, gradually move to feeding your baby exclusively with the new formula. This gradual introduction helps your baby adjust to any small differences in taste or smell.
