With Kendamil Goat formula now leading the herd as the UK’s number 1 bestseller, you might be wondering - is there any other brand that can compare?
Let’s face it, choosing baby formula can feel like revising for a science exam you didn’t sign up for. If you’ve landed here, chances are you’ve heard the whispers: “Goat milk is gentler…”, “It's better for digestion…”. But once you’ve decided to go goat, there’s another question: Kendamil Goat or Nannycare?
Both are well known options in the goat milk formula space, but only one wears the crown (and no, we’re not just saying that because we’ve got a Queen’s Award).
We’ve done the digging so you don’t have to, comparing ingredients, sourcing, ethics, and everything in between. So, pop the kettle on and let’s talk goats.
What Makes Goat Milk Formula So Special Anyway?
Goat milk has become the go-to for parents with babies who need something a little gentler. Why?
🐐 It creates softer, smaller, looser curds when digested in baby’s tummy compared to cow’s milk.
🧬 It contains more A2 beta-casein proteins (which may be easier on the tummy) (1).
🍼 Its naturally creamy texture and taste are a hit with babies.
That’s why many parents are swapping cow for goat when it comes to their little ones, especially if they’re showing signs of fussiness, reflux or sensitivity.
But not all goat formulas are cut from the same cloth.

Ingredients: What’s Really in the Tin?
Kendamil Goat: Creamy & Balanced
Kendamil Goat starts with full cream whole goat milk, not the skimmed stuff. That means your baby gets a natural mammal fat source (including the magical MFGM found in breast milk), without the need for a 100% vegetable oil formulation.
Kendamil Goat recipe also has added GOS and HMOs, which help promote the growth of friendly bacteria.
Even better, we add goat whey to our formula. Regular goat milk contains more casein than both cow’s milk and human breast milk. Its natural whey : casein ratio is approximately 20:80, in contrast to the typical 60:40 balance found in human milk. Whey proteins are generally more soluble and more rapidly digested than caseins, which helps explain why breast milk is whey-dominant, particularly in early infancy.
This is why, at additional cost, Kendamil chooses to add additional goat whey, to rebalance the protein ratio from 20:80 to 60:40, to be whey dominant. Studies have shown that a whey dominant protein ratio, along with the softer and smaller A2 curds, is closer to that of breast milk compared to cow’s milk and may be easier to digest.
Plus, with milk sourced from grass-fed goats from family farms, it’s as wholesome as a Sunday roast at your nan’s.
Nannycare: Runner-Up
Nannycare also uses whole goat milk and recently updated its recipe to remove the use of fish oil and replace it with a plant-based DHA like Kendamil. Even though Nannycare has now started adding HMOs they still don’t add GOS into their recipe.
Nannycare doesn't add additional whey to their recipe, meaning it retains the natural 20:80 whey : casein ratio of goat milk.
Verdict: Kendamil provides a fresh whole milk formula with added GOS, as well as a balance of whey and casein proteins. ✅
Sourcing & Sustainability: Homegrown vs. Flown In
In a world where parents are trying to make more conscious choices, provenance matters.
Kendamil
All milk for Kendamil Goat is sourced here in Europe, and the formula is made in Kendamil’s European partner factory. Fewer miles, more transparency, and a smaller footprint, all while supporting farming families.
Nannycare
Nannycare sources its milk from New Zealand, which means your tin has clocked more air miles than a British Airways stewardess.
Verdict: One is homegrown. The other’s homesick.
Family-run business: Who’s Got the Heart?
Kendamil is a family-run business that has been a leader in infant nutrition for over 60 years. They don’t cut corners, and they’re refreshingly honest about what goes into their formulas (and what doesn’t). Every tin supports a British business and British workers, and their mission is to keep baby nutrition simple, wholesome, and accessible.
Nannycare? They have been around for 30 years. Based and manufactured in another continent, and without quite the same heart-on-sleeve family feel.
Verdict: It’s Kendamil’s values that truly set it apart. 🫶
Price: Quality Without the Stiff Upper Lip
Goat milk formula isn’t cheap, and for good reason. As you can imagine there aren’t as many goat milk farms as there are dairy farms, so getting hold of the good stuff isn’t as easy! But Kendamil Goat offers premium quality without the over-inflated price tag. It sits at a cheaper price compared to Nannycare, and although this may only be a £1 difference this soon adds up when baby is drinking over 6 bottles a day!
Unlike many formula brands, Kendamil’s fair and consistent pricing is something you can rely on. Nannycare recently decreased the volume in their tins.
Final Thoughts: Why Kendamil Goat Is the G.O.A.T.
In the great goat formula showdown, Kendamil Goat isn’t just competing, it’s leading the herd.
It’s the only one to offer:
✅ A formulation with added GOS
✅ A formula made here in Europe
✅ No nonsense approach to ingredients; has never used palm oil, fish oil or soya
✅ Creamy whole milk taste babies love
✅ The heart and heritage of a family-run British business
Gentler for baby. Less miles to travel to your door. Better for your values. That’s what makes it the greatest of all time. No wonder it’s the UK’s bestseller!
