Letter from our family founders

A message from our family founders

We are aware that many of you have been struggling to find our Classic and Organic powder formula on shelves recently in the UK and we wanted to address this directly and share an update.

We have been making significant changes to try to keep pace with ever-growing demand for Kendamil. We have worked to maximise the product that reaches store shelves by switching off orders on Kendamil.com for new customers, while continuing to fulfil existing Kendamil subscribers. We’ve also been increasing our shifts, growing our team and expanding our factory in Kendal to increase our supply as quickly as possible. We are producing more formula than ever for the UK market. However, despite this and still delivering to retailers weekly, it has not been enough to ensure steady availability nationwide right now.

We know that this is highly stressful and challenging for families. That so many UK families put their trust in Kendamil has been our proudest achievement and those loyal families are what make us who we are. As a team we read your comments daily and we understand your frustrations. This is not the standard we expect of ourselves. We have been so fortunate to have seen Kendamil grow from a little British factory servicing a handful of stores to one that is providing over 100 million bottle feeds to UK families each year. We know our biggest challenge is ensuring Kendamil is always available for everyone who wants it and we know we’re not achieving that right now.

We want you to know that we and our team in Kendal have been fully focused on expanding our factory in the Lake District for some time. Earlier this year we received permission to expand our existing Kendal factory (read more here), which will triple our production capacity and feed more UK families than ever before. Unfortunately, these expansions take time and we know it won’t come soon enough for parents who expect consistent supply today.

For those parents, we will share a solution that ensures significantly increased availability in-store and online within the next three months and we will continue to update you as we do so. We are also committed to supplying our retail partners with fresh product every week, even if demand for our product is greater than our current ability to supply. We know this may mean that some of you are faced with difficult decisions to make around your feeding journey. Whether that means switching within our range or transitioning to an alternative, we have a dedicated support team of mums and dads available around-the-clock to listen and advise you based on the needs of you and your baby.

Thank you for bearing with us whilst we navigate this difficult situation. We truly apologise to all parents impacted by the high levels of demand and we’ll continue to work hard to share good news with you very soon.
