The kendamil Difference
Why Kendamil

The What? Kendamil is proudly British
The Why? Whereas other baby formula you'll find in supermarkets are brands from abroad, Kendamil is a uniquely British brand. Our cows milk formula is uniquely made in the British Lake District and we source all of our whole milk from Red Tractor accredited farms. We even take our name from our local town, "Kendal"!

The What? Kendamil uniquely uses Whole Milk as a source of fat
The Why? By including Whole Milk as our primary ingredient and a source of fat in our formula, Kendamil has a naturally creamy taste and reduced levels of vegetable oils, which form 100% of the fat content in other formula. It also means Kendamil includes naturally occuring MFGM (Milk Fat Globule Membrane).

The What? Kendamil has NEVER used Palm Oil
The Why? Because of the scientific research linking Palm Oil to the malabsorption of minerals in the gut as well as the negative impacts on the environment, we have NEVER used it in Kendamil (and we have petitioned the UK government to ban it in all formula!)

The What? Kendamil sources Omega 3 from plants!
The Why? By opting to source our Omega 3 (DHA) from sustainably farmed marine algae, we avoid the fish oil allergen found in most formula and also do better for the world by not contributing to overfishing!

The Why? Kendamil is uniquely Veggie friendly!
The Why? By sourcing our Omega 3 from marine algae and avoiding animal rennet in our production process, Kendamil is uniquely certified Vegetarian!

The What? Kendamil is proudly certified Organic by the Soil Association.
The Why? Only 1% of the world's dairy is Organic and it can take over 2 years to convert a normal farm into an organic one. By sourcing Organic we support better animal welfare and higher nutritional quality due to the lack of GMOs, pesticides and herbicides.

Frequently asked questions
Your questions answered
Kendamil’s unique whole milk recipe provides a more natural fat source for your baby and reduces the amount of vegetable oils in our formula (we proudly use no palm oil, fish oil or soya).
Whole milk also uniquely provides your little one a natural source of Milk Fat Globule Membrane (or MFGM), as identified in human breastmilk and uniquely included in Kendamil’s full-cream recipe.
Our organic ingredients, including our milk, is sourced entirely from organic British farms. Organic milk makes up just 1% of the world’s milk supply and means better welfare for our cows, more sustainable and ethical farming standards and superior quality for your baby.
Our organic products are proudly certified by the European Union and the British Soil Association.
We’ve tweaked the recipe of our Organic Toddler Milk to meet new, updated European Organic standards. This means that our formulation is slightly closer to that of our Follow On Milk, but it is still entirely suitable for infants between 12 and 36 months.
The required adjustments mean you may spot 2 key changes in the ingredients list.
Firstly you will notice our iron source is now listed as Ferrous Sulphate. Ferrous Sulphate is the most commonly used source of iron in infant formula globally and is also in our Goat Formula. It is also worth noting that this is a very small change as the iron in our recipe only makes up approx. 0.01% of our formula. As a result, it would be very unlikely that your baby will notice the change.
Secondly, you will notice Sodium Citrate listed in the ingredients. This is because the adjustments for European Organic have meant that the naturally occurring levels of sodium were reduced slightly, meaning we have supplemented to the required levels with Sodium Citrate. Sodium Citrate is perfectly safe for your toddler and can be found in our Follow On Milk too. It is a commonly used ingredient in toddler milks and many other brands use it also.
The wellbeing of your little one is always our top priority and we will continue to work closely with experts and regulators to make sure our unique recipes are updated to align with new regulations, research and guidelines, all while remaining true to what makes Kendamil so special.
The move from Stage 2 to Stage 3 is designed to support your little one’s transition from infant formula products towards cow’s milk. This means our Stage 3 formula contains more protein, calcium and phosphorous than Stage 2 (like cow’s milk) and has a whey:casein ration of 75:25 (like cow’s milk).
We’re so excited to hear you’re considering joining our growing family at Kendamil!
We recommend speaking to your healthcare professional before making any changes to your little one’s diet. It can be a good idea to slowly introduce new formula to allow for their tummy to adjust.
We do not recommend storing pre-prepared bottles of milk in the fridge, as Kendamil follow the guidelines set down by the Department of Health that feeds are made fresh on demand.
Once the powder has been added to the hot water, the feed will be suitable for use for 2 hours. We would recommend that after this time any leftover product should be discarded.
You can find Kendamil Organic in Boots, Sainsburys, Waitrose, Ocado, ChemistDirect, Kendamil.com, Amazon and Farmdrop. Be sure to check out our Stockists page to find your nearest store.
